What to look for in a platform bed

Everyone wants their bedroom to be a relaxing oasis. It should be filled with calming colors, creative patterns, quality fabrics and sentimental items. The space needs the simplistic comforts of an organic mattress, fluffy pillows, and soft sheets, but it also needs a statement piece, a finishing touch that pulls the room together and makes it feel special. Your bedroom should be a space you look forward to retreating to, not only because of your cozy bedding, but because of how it embodies your personal style. The furniture you choose is the very foundation of the space, which is where a natural platform bed can come in. The bed frames at The Natural Mattress Company embody classic and timeless design, one that merges minimalism and sophistication through the sleek lines of the natural maple, cherry or walnut woods. There are so many platform beds to choose from, but few offer the natural qualities and careful construction of ours. Here’s what you should look for when shopping for a platform bed (and why ours definitely make the cut).

Natural Before Toxic

When looking for a platform bed, it’s important to be aware of what it’s actually made of. Particle board, toxic glues, and chemical-ridden wood stains don’t exactly scream “welcome to your cozy bedroom.” Not only are these materials unhealthy but they lack the natural durability and overall quality that our platform beds offer. We carry several zero-VOC stains so that you, along with our friends at the woodshop, don’t have to breathe in these toxins. You spend a third of your life sleeping (and probably also a significant portion watching Netflix in bed) so your platform bed should be just as healthy as your mattress.

Quality Construction

We offer bed frames from Vermont Furniture designs right here in Winooski Vermont. We also offer bed frames from Savvy Rest and Green Sleep two of our latex mattress suppliers. Our stores platform beds are made to last for generations, not just for a few years. Our customers expect high quality craftsmanship and that’s exactly what we deliver. Our bed frames have wide slats that are placed close together. You can be rest assured that they will be able to support you and your new latex mattress.

Our platform beds are also easy to assemble and don’t require any tools! We wanted to design them in a way that would be as stress-free as possible. The instructions are incredibly simple and require minimal effort, Plenty of platform beds call for numerous tools and come with a thick, intimidating manual that is just not fun at all. We didn’t want to make your life difficult so don’t worry—you can put your toolbox away.

Customization

Vermont Furniture Design offers many styles customization options as far as leg style, height, low or high foot board and wood choice.

Savvy Rest offers two bedframes the Esmont and Afton, The Esmont in particular comes with a customizable headboard, which is a rather unique feature. We wanted to give our customers the flexibility to choose between a slatted and solid look. If you want the slatted look, add a spacer, then a slat, a spacer, then a slat, and so forth until the headboard is complete. If you want a solid look, just put all the spacers in before the slats—it’s that easy. We wanted the headboard to encourage and celebrate your own unique style and to embody your vision of the perfect platform bed.
